MINUTES OF GENERAL MEETING – HELD 23rd APRIL 2008

MEETING OPENED: Geoff Basden opened the meeting at 8:07PM

APOLOGIES: Jeff Cripps, Laurence Cripps, Elaine Nikiforoff, Nicholas Nikiforoff, Werner Zettl, Susan

Zettl & Matt McKerihan.

MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING were read by Simon Lennox and their acceptance were

moved by Stephen Maher and seconded by Ian Boyd. Motion carried.

BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES:

David Nikiforoff enquired about the where the issue of having to wear approved underwear was at.

After discussion it was established that the ruling was for implementation in 2010, however the issue

was still under discussion and a dispensation was being seeked by AORCOM.

The clubs position on the requirement of two forward facing lights was that the two lights be

operational at scrutineering, however, if one or both lights failed, the driver would not be stopped from

racing. This was in keeping with the current procedure that people are not stopped from racing if a

brake light fails.

Geoff Basden raised the point that members be encouraged to make a donation to the club if they test

their vehicle at Colo Park. The amount would not be a fixed amount & would be at the discretion of

the person testing.

Pieter Hollowood doesn’t require the hire of Colo for a private function he was trying to arrange.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Geoff Basden gave a report on Laurence Cripps behalf:

Opening Balance: $3427.06

Expenses: $50.00 for State t-shirts & $252.20 for trophies at Colo Park, Round 1.

Acceptance of the report was moved by Gavin Mickle & seconded by Bob Stansfield. Motion carried.

GENERAL BUSINESS:

Ian Irons spoke on the Police inspection of Colo Park going well. Only comment was the need for an

‘Ambulance Parking’ sign. This is being arranged.

Geoff Basden spoke on the possibility of maybe obtaining a Police radar unit or hiring one to monitor

the speeds along the straights during a race meeting at Colo.

Geoff Basden also raised a matter on Elaine Nikiforoff’s behalf. Were any officials interested in

attending any of the scheduled officials training/upgrade courses. Please contact Elaine if you are

interested as CAMS would like some indication of numbers.

A working bee was scheduled for Colo Park from noon on the 24th May & also on the 25th May. There

has been no real work done to the track since last years State round. There are many jobs to be

undertaken. Maintenance is required on the backhoe. Holes need to be drilled for the pit fence. The

track needs grading and general maintenance. Kids are more than welcome to attend the working

bee.

The Track Committee is to look into a solution to the issue that there have been a couple of members

commenting that going to Paul Grants has added over an hour of travel time to pick up the keys for

Colo test days. The matter will be addressed at the upcoming Track Committee meeting.

AORCOM REPORT: Held over to next month as no one was at the meeting to give a report.
