The T6000
Jason Carthew (Ex class 5 Datsun 720 Ute) is
another SORRA club member with a truggy under construction.
The car will run the same drive train as the
Class 5 car with a few mods, that is, 351 with Alloy heads and a C4 with
shortened extension housing which allows him to set the engine/box further back
without sacrificing travel.
Jason is hoping to get the last of the chassis engineering done this weekend and
get started on the manufacture of the front and rear suspensions.
Being built in a similar vein as Aaron
McClintock's Beast, I look forward to the day when they're sitting side by side
on the startline, and to see them both burst away in a hurricane of dust and
rocks with all four exhaust outlets pumping base so thick you can feel
it... Oh, just got a cold shiver!
Photos as at 5 July 05:
As you can see the basic chassis is almost complete.
Updated Nov 11
Jason has been hard at it getting the T6000 together.
He's in the process of finishing off the front end, and getting a start on the
rear and hopes to have it rolling over summer.
"I would like to thank Peter Tibbles for all his great
work so far welding this sucker together, Norm Vesty for his input so far, Aaron
McClintock for his time & patience so far. I would also like to thank
my wife & kids for being extremely patient with me whilst spending many
hours in the shed."
- funny how that's 2 of us on this site with buildups with big
thanks to Aaron McClintock! - webmaster.
Updated Jun 09 Jason has been hard at
in the shed getting the T6000 to the roller stage. These shots were taken
a couple of months back, no doubt engine/gearbox mounting has moved on since
then.
Updated 23 Nov
Jason shot these pictures in May/June this year.
Updated 19 Apr
