SORRA GENERAL MEETING 23RD
JANUARY 2008. MEETING OPENED: by Matt McKerihanat 8.15 p.m. APOLOGIES: Nick Nikiforoff, Simon Lennox and Brian Edmonds Elaine introduced Neville Kirkham from Macarthur 4WD club. Neville came to request information as to what SORRA would require and what costs for their club to hold their birthday celebrations on long weekend in October 2008. He said it would involve about 40 families with the main emphasis on family events. The 4WD’s they use are their road cars and therefore they do not set the type of trials we are used to seeing at Nissan. Actual driving or tests are minimal with skill rather than force being the major factor. One of their main events is for the driver to blindfolded and the navigator to guide him through witches hats etc. Ian Irons said the price for hiring the track this year was still to be determined and Jeff Cripps said we would require a letter outlining the activities they proposed to carry out and also a copy of their certificate of currency for their insurance. Neville said that their members were happy to continue providing people for recovery at our events and that several members would be attending both the working bee on 22nd February and the race on the 23rd February. Bob Stansfield suggested that if they were willing to keep assisting us with recovery that we should offer them a discount. A meeting of the track committee is proposed for Wednesday 30th January to discuss fees etc and work required to prepare Colo for our own and other events. The meeting thanked Neville for coming and said they would look forward to meeting with their committee members to agree the areas they would use. MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING were read and their acceptance moved by Ross Barnes and Ian Irons. Motion carried. BUSINEES ARISING FROM MINUTES: Track committee to meet and set requirements for hiring Colo and pricing structure as suggested by David Nikiforoff at November meeting. Brian Edmonds agreement to be drafted in consultation with Brian in accordance with DA. DA still not received although it has been passed. Ian Irons put forward a list of work that needs to be carried out at Colo and asked for suggestions from the meeting. A master list of jobs to be created so that planning can take place and priority given to urgent jobs. Ian Irons introduced new members Geoff and Amanda who have bought Simon Lennox’s buggy 376. TREASURER’S REPORT: Opening Balance $6157.57 income $6586.00 Expenditure $7184.74. Closing Balance $5558.83. Motion to accept treasurer’s report moved by Ian Irons seconded Ian Boyd. Motion carried. The public exhibition for a further 14 days was completed on 16th January 2008. Unfortunately the Town Planning Co-ordinator is on holiday until 2nd February 2008. Jeff enquired if someone else could issue it but was advised that if someone else became involved we might have to start all over again. Sue Zettyl has been accepted by AORCOM for another year. First meeting 1st & 2nd March. Asked if we wished to raise anything. Matt Mckerihan said that the General Regulations and Special Regulations do not specify single or two seats for 4WD. Judyth Humphries has been appointed Chief Steward of all Off Road Events National and State. Current diesel engines are too big to comply with 6 cylinder requirements. This issue to be discussed. National Tri Series to go ahead. Competitiors must register for National Events and run within the National Competition. Must nominate your three events. Not open to 2007 Class and National Champion. As Sue is pregnant and not allowed trackside we need a new Compliance Checker. Sue also asked if someone could take on the Trophies this year as she is still on State Panel as well as AORCOM and is still doing the State Point Score. Matt said that he believed his wife would be interested in taking on the trophies. Jeff Cripps is the 2008 State Panel Chairman. Ian Irons asked for those who plan to attend the working bee on 3rd February 2008 to get in touch with him so that he can organise food etc. He will not be attending and as he is expecting to be in hospital for our first round will not be available then either. Our meeting in February is our AGM. MEETING CLOSED: Matt closed the meeting at 9.34pm |
