Click Here for the latest update. 13 August After writing off the Rivmasta some 6 weeks ago we immediately embarked on a new chassis so we could get racing again ASAP. (Well almost immediately... Rick got married and had a honeymoon first!). The Wolf will have be an a-arm buggy with Beard seats, by-pass shocks,20" travel, 20valve, EMS, BFGoodrich tyres, Wilwood brakes and with as many components made in house as we can make without compromising the quality of the car. Our list of people to thank is already long and
distinguished. Rick and I would like to thank: If you'd like to make a comment, make a suggestion, offer some constructive criticism or even throw stones, feel free to jump on the forum and fire away! Cheers, Updated 10 January
The basic chassis is complete, as is the entire front end including steering column, actuator etc, plus the floor, seats, roof, and some other bits and bobs. Thanks to Mick for the pics. You'll see its come a long way since the last set of photos! As always in a project like this, the list of people to thank is long and distinguished. A HUGE thank you goes to Paul Grant for the 2 full days at his workshop that he's put in for us, especially whilst he was on Holidays! Thanks also to Fay for letting us interupt the last day of their holiday! Thanks to Gavin Potts who's spent many a night and day in the shed with us, and as always thanks to Mick and Ivan for their constant help and support. Without them this car would take soooo much longer. Thanks also to Spizz for the tooling, Aaron for his continued advice and Ian Boyd of Boyd Motorsport Products for his assistance. The next step is to move to the back of the car and get started on the rear arms and hubs, like the front end they will be designed and manufactured by us, and from there to gearbox and engine mounts. As always, if you've got any questions or want to throw stones, drop a query on the forum and I'll be happy to respond. Cheers, Updated 27 Jun We jumped in to doing body panels whilst waiting for some
parts (and cash!) to come in to keep the car progressing. These photos are
now a couple of months old. Since these were taken the panels have been
all but finished, the jig for the rear arms built and dummy arms manufactured to
check that the jig was correct. In a couple of weeks from now she'll be a
roller with panels. Thanks to Mick for his help with the car, and for taking the
photos. Thanks heaps to Paul Grant for letting us run riot in his
workshop, and also to Gav and Ivan for thier input and help. A lesson well learnt - Rick and I could NEVER be sheetmetal workers! Updated 8 Jul A few more photos with the dummy rear arm mounted (used to check that the Jig was 100% perfect). We
wont know for sure how much travel we've got until the gearbox and axles are in
- but it should be around 20" or a little bit more.
Cheers to Mick for the photos - the next set will be as a full roller! These shots were taken in late July/early August. Thanks once again to Big Mick for the pics. Since these shots were taken the rear crash bar assembly has been done, and we're currently making the last bits for the engine and gearbox mounts. We're also in the process of doing the pedal mounts, fuel tank and fuel system, finishing off the brake system and some other bits and pieces. Then we wire and fire! Woohoo! Updated 25 Oct Just a passing shot from our old mate (???!!!) Ross Barnes... With friends like these... :) Just a few more pics from the shed...
Updated 29 Nov A few shots after the car spent some 2 and half weeks at Paul Grant's workshop. Engine and gearbox are in, as are the rear shocks. Made a new sump (thanks to Jason for lending us the dummy block!) and about 10 million brackets.... Thanks heaps, enormously, massively to Paul who not only let Rick and I run riot in his workshop on weekends and at night, but who also did a heap of stuff on the car for us as well. Hugely appreciated. Thanks also to Ivan and Mick for all their help. And to our long suffering wives... we really do care more about you than the car!!! Honest!!!
Updated 29 March Well, as most people would know by now the 20v has been pulled out of the car and tossed in favour of a 4Ltr Lexus quad cam V8. We've also changed all the tyre heights going to 33's all round so we've re-done the suspension front and rear. The sharp eyed will also note that the engine didn't quite fit in a hole designed for a 1600cc 4 cyl... so all the rear cage is new as well. And for those who have asked - no we didn't give the exhaust to someone else to make. Rick made the extractors to specs I (and my trusty laptop!) gave him. The car is so close now you can almost taste it!!!! More pics will come soon (I'll get more shots when we pull it out of the shed next), but heres a few for those who've been bagging me to get some up!
Thanks to mick for taking most of these pics. Updated April 12Just a few updated piccies.
